One of the artworks from the Hearts of San Francisco project is on display in the garden outside U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein's house, visible from the Lyon Street Steps.The stairs are beautiful to look at with their strategically placed landings and beautiful balustrades, but they were built for a more practical reason: going back and forth between different parts of Pacific Heights, according Mary Burk, co-author of the book.
But there's a special house near the bottom. From Vallejo Street, you'll ascend the lower, steeper portion of the stairs and reach the first landing.
