Defender thrilled to be given the armband after a decade with the Bannsiders.
There have been many changes at Coleraine over the last few months as the club transitions into a new full-time model.
The 27-year-old, who signed a new three-year-deal at the end of last season, is relishing the opportunity to step up from vice-captain. He also paid tribute to his former captain O'Donnell for being a mentor to him over the last few seasons. "Dean probably spoke to me three weeks ago and we went for food and he told me then. Obviously he told me how much of an important role it is as a connection between the players and the staff. For me and my family being here so long, it's a dream come true."
