Film Festival — today used their Lido photo call as a powerful call for support of Ukraine’s families.and team held up a series of pictures from classic films featuring a strong father and son relationship, and in which the father’s image was obscured. This while posing with banners that read “Imagine movies without fathers” and “Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, thousands of Ukrainian children have been left without parents.

“There was a generation of absent fathers during the 1940s, after WW2; there was a generation of absent fathers during the 1990s, after criminal wars; and unfortunately there will be a big generation of absent fathers after this cruel war in Ukraine… If we don’t stop this brutal invasion by Russia, we will be left not only with ruins, but also with an innumerable amount of ruined families and children’s destinies.
