Lutheran West boys basketball team secured a win against Glenville at the Scholastic Play By Play Classic. Senior forward Matt Meyer led Lutheran West with 17 points and 6 rebounds, while Jakaris Shelton added 14 points and Ryan Calo earned MVP honors with 13 points.
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio — Lutheran West could not quiet take control of its boys basketball matchup Sunday at the Scholastic Play By Play Classic with Glenville until the final minutes.
Even a big third quarter, which saw senior forward Matt Meyer score 10 of his team-high 17 points, could not quiet get the Longhorns there. However, Meyer’s slam dunk in the fourth quarter pushed them to a double-digit lead and a Meyer added six rebounds, while Omar Martinez pulled down nine boards. Sophomore point guard Jakaris Shelton added 14 points and three steals with four assists. Senior guard Ryan Calo scored 13 points and picked up MVP honors.
Xavier Vickerstaff paced Glenville with 19 points and eight rebounds. He also blocked two shots. Junior point guard Theodore Castro dished out seven assists and scored eight points.
