Former Liverpool and Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has announced his retirement from international football with Uruguay and was highly emotional in the press conference!
confirmed Uruguay's World Cup qualifier against Paraguay in Montevideo on Friday would be his 143rd and final cap for his nation.The 37-year-old held back tears as he made the announcement and took 'pride' in retiring on his own terms.
Suarez added: "I am 37 years old and I know that it is very difficult to get to the next World Cup. It comforts me a lot that I can retire and not for my injuries to retire me, or to stop being called up. "My dream was for my children to see me win something important with the national team... that last goal was very nice for them and even though it wasn't a trophy to take home, it was very nice for them," Suarez said.
