Luis Suárez seguirá una temporada más con Inter Miami. El delantero uruguayo, que cumplirá 39 años en enero, firmó un contrato para disputar la temporada de 2026 con los flamantes campeones de la MLS, anunció el club el miércoles.
No se dio a conocer el monto financiero del acuerdo. Suárez acompañará al astro argentino Lionel Messi para la apertura el próximo año del nuevo estadio del equipo, cercano al aeropuerto internacional de Miami. Será la tercera temporada de Suárez goleador histórico de la selección de Uruguay con Inter Miami. El ex del Barcelona, Liverpool, Atlético de Madrid y Ajax anotó 17 goles y aportó 17 asistencias al disputar 50 partidos en todas las competiciones, incluyendo una marcha a las octavos de final del expandido Mundial de Clubes. Aceptó tener un papel secundario en los últimos cuatro partidos de los playoffs y no tuvo minutos en la victoria 3-1 ante los Vancouver Whitecaps en la final de la Copa MLS. Fue desplazado por Mateo Silvetti, un atacante argentino de 19 años.
