Chicago White Sox center fielder Luis Robert Jr. finishes his fantastic 2023 season with 38 home runs, 36 doubles and 20 stolen bases.
White Sox center fielder Luis Robert Jr. is congratulated in the dugout after scoring a run against the Mariners on Aug. 22, 2023, at Guaranteed Rate Field.The center fielder will miss the final six games after the Chicago White Sox placed him on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a mild MCL sprain in his left knee.
Robert finishes with 36 doubles and 38 homers to go with the 20 steals. Ordoñez had 40 doubles, 31 homers and 25 steals in 2001. Robert has often pointed to health as the most important aspect of his big season. After injuries limited him to 68 games in 2021 and 98 in 2022, he played 145 games this season.
Robert slashed .264/.315/.542 and is second in the American League in home runs. He earned his first All-Star selection. In two more roster moves Tuesday, the Sox selected the contract of outfielder Tyler Naquin from Triple-A Charlotte and transferred pitcher Jimmy Lambert to the 60-day IL.Lambert, who has been on the IL since Sept. 4, underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right ankle Sept. 20 and is expected to recover in two to three months.
