Warning: Spoilers For One Piece Anime #1072The debut of Luffy's Gear 5th in the One Piece anime crashed websites, but episode #1072 showcased the Straw Hat Captain's ability to break reality in the series. The second part of the Gear 5th fight against Kaido fixed many of the issues the first had with pacing and balancing genres, which One Piece usually excels at.

However, the anime episode added effective doses of drama and comedy that improved Eiichiro Oda's source material.
Luffy's Gear 5 Alters The One Piece World's Physics & Its Citizens An anime-only scene shows the remnants of Luffy's allies continuing to fight to their dying breaths as Kaido's soldiers and intense flames close in on them. Nami consoles the young Otama, who looks upward toward Luffy and Kaido's battle and says, "Otama... Don't worry! The one who will come down that hole next won't be Kaido!" ensuring her that Luffy will win the fight.
The new dramatic scene helped improve the comedic moment featuring the reactions of onlookers like Nami, Otama, Chopper, Kid, and Law to Luffy's unexpected and silly entrance. Seeing Luffy's giant head shoot through the roof shocked the struggling survivors so much that their eyes shot out of their skulls with the same "rubber hose" animation style that Luffy's Gear 5th has been doing.
