Patrick also asked Abbott to stop vetoing Senate bills for political leverage, and he demanded House members return to Austin for the ongoing special session.
Of the five bills Abbott has vetoed this year, three were crafted by Sen. Paul Bettencourt, R-Houston, and author of the Senate’s property tax relief plan.
In each of Abbott’s veto proclamations on Bettencourt’s bills, he inserted a criticism of the measure followed by this remark: “This bill can be reconsidered at a future special session only after property tax relief is passed.”
