LSU fined $250K after students storm the field following win against Alabama
Fans stormed the field Saturday night following the No. 10 Tigers' 32-21 overtime win against the No. 6 Alabama Crimson Tide. LSU fans similarly stormed the field in the team's win against Ole Miss, then ranked No. 7 in the Associated Press poll, on Oct. 22, which also resulted in a $250,000 fine.
They had all violated the Southeastern Conference's access to competition area policy, which explains that"for the safety of participants and spectators alike, at no time before, during, or after a contest, shall spectators be permitted to enter the competition area. It is the responsibility of each member institution to implement procedures to ensure compliance with this policy.
The first time LSU violated this policy was in 2018 after its team won against the Georgia Bulldogs, which was ranked No. 2 at the time.
