THE low pressure area (LPA) off Surigao del Sur remains unlikely to develop into a storm over the next few days but will bring moderate to heavy rains over Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Tuesday.
According to Pagasa forecaster Grace Castaneda, the northeast monsoon locally known as 'amihan' is affecting Luzon, including Metro Manila where partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains may prevail within a 24-hour period.She said the weather disturbance was last spotted around 3 a.m. some 340 kilometers south-east of Hinatuan, also in the province, or at 320kms east-southeast of Davao City.
'The LPA has a slim chance to intensify into a tropical depression in the coming days but the weather disturbance is bringing overcast skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms,' she said.'Flash floods or landslides are possible in these areas due to moderate to heavy rains,' the weather forecaster told The Manila Times.
