) - Daphne Police posted a recent arrest on social media that’s drawn hundreds of comments. Herman Lambeth Jr. was picked up for his 14th DUI since 2006. Records show Mobile County authorities had a warrant out for his arrest for violating his probation on another DUI charge.
Daphne Police said they found him in a car outside of a hotel and when they approached him, noted he was under the influence.Taking a look into court documents, the more than a dozen DUI arrests have been in Mobile and Baldwin counties. Lambeth has been to court appointed substance abuse programs. We’re still working to determine exactly how much jail time Lambeth has served for his previous convictions. Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood said his office is still following the arrest pattern out of multiple jurisdictions that may have been missed before, allowing Lambeth to get off easy for past offenses. Blackwood said, “There are a lot of different jurisdictions involved, a lot of different municipalities where he got a DUI. Up until very recently, and then even today, many municipalities--there’s no communication network to where everybody can see everybody’s information. A lot of them are kind of siloed.”DUI’s do not fall under Alabama’s Three Strikes Law which imposes harsh penalties for habitual felony offenders.
