Lowering local content requirements for solar PV will help get power to grid quickly - Patel | Fin24

In an effort to get power to the grid as rapidly as possible, government has announced a massive reduction in the local content requirements for Bid Window 5 of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme. | LameezOmarjee Fin24

The changes apply to solar PV modules. The component only has to be 35% locally produced. The requirement was previously 100%, explained Minister of Trade Industry and Competition Ebrahim Patel.

The minister is part of the Energy Crisis Committee that focuses on the implementation of interventions to end load shedding.
