The US will develop an affordable 500-lb Extended-Range Attack Munition for Ukraine, which can strike at a speed of Mach 0.6 to 288 miles.

Classified as a 500-pound-class weapon, the missile will boast a minimum speed of Mach 0.6 and a range of 288 miles.The US Air Force is planning to initiate the development of a new, affordable Extended-Range Attack Munition designed specifically for Ukraine .

In the RFP, which is sent to 16 shortlisted companies, the US Air Force added that it is seeking to prototype and adapt a commercial autonomous modular open architecture vehicle that can deliver affordable long-range effects. The resultant prototype will provide a mass-produced platform.Classified as a 500-pound-class weapon, the ERAM will boast a minimum speed of Mach 0.6 and a range of 288 miles.

The US Air Force plans to procure 1,000 such missiles for Ukraine within two years of the contract award.from the ground and projects a “cone” of EW interference into the sky, has rendered the US-supplied M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System useless in Ukraine. The jamming prevents weapons from communicating with satellites to guide them towards targets.

The assessment said that Ukraine stopped using Excalibur shells last year after the weapon “lost its potential” and fell to just 10 percent effectiveness.
