A leading American author has apologised for her part in the wrongful conviction of a man who has now been cleared of raping her four decades ago.Anthony Broadwater was arrested and jailed in 1981 and served 16 years in prison after being convicted of raping the woman when she was a student at Syracuse University.But his conviction was overturned last week when the case was re-examined by prosecutors. They found flaws in his arrest and trial.
