A new study by Lovehoney, a UK-based sexual wellness company, reveals the top sex toy buyers in the United States, with several Colorado cities ranking high. The study analyzes sales data from the past year to identify cities with the highest per capita purchase of sex toys.
Lovehoney , a UK-based sexual wellness brand, has released a map revealing the top buyers of sex toys per capita across over 1,200 U.S. cities. Five Colorado cities made it into the top ranks for purchasing butt plugs, strap-ons, and a variety of other sex toys , propelling Colorado into the top 10% of states for total sex toy purchases. The company analyzed sales data from the past year to compile its rankings.
Massachusetts college towns of Somerville and Cambridge secured the top two spots for sex toy buyers nationwide, with Reston, Virginia, in the Washington, D.C., metro area coming in at third. Lovehoney's study also revealed some interesting trends in specific product categories. For instance, Denver earned the unofficial title of 'most silent city' because online shoppers there favored gags, often used in bondage to prevent talking. Lovehoney's top sex toy shoppers in Colorado can be found in Boulder, which ranked twelfth among sex toy buyers nationwide. Right behind Boulder was Broomfield, which placed ninth in the list of top butt plug buyers. Boulder and Broomfield also dominated the bondage gear market: Boulder ranked 30th for bondage purchases while Broomfield came in at 23rd. Broomfield was also the 26th biggest buyer of roleplay costumes and accessories nationwide, though Boulder trailed behind at 316th. Broomfield displayed a particular fondness for vibrators, ranking 22nd nationwide compared to Boulder's 34th. However, Boulder managed to outpace Broomfield in the purchase of strap-ons and anal toys, such as beads. Boulder was the 64th biggest strap-on buyer and the 38th biggest for anal toys from Lovehoney, while Broomfield didn't crack the top 100 for either category.
