In his first joint appearance with Joe Biden in the 2020 campaign season, Barack Obama helped the former vice president raise more than $11 million in campaign donations, joked about the candidate's age and criticized Donald Trump for the “shambolic, disorganized, mean-spirited approach to government that we have seen over the past couple of years.
He also contrasted Trump with George W. Bush, Obama's predecessor, "who I disagreed with on a whole host of issues," but "still had a basic regard for the rule of law and the importance of our institutions." In contrast, Obama praised his vice president of eight years, saying there was “nobody that I trust more to heal this country and get it back on track than my dear friend Joe Biden.”
