Why LoveIsland producers axed fan favourite split or steal twist from show
Another season of Love Island is set to draw to a close on 13 January, with the 2023 winter series coming to an end after a long eight weeks.
In 2022, the twist was scrapped by ITV bosses for the first time ever, with winners Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Davide Sanclimenti automatically splitting the prize fund and receiving £25,000 each. "This has been a series with a number of format changes, including the viewers’ choice in the first recoupling, just to keep the show feeling fresh.”
Jess Hayes won the first series of Love Island alongside Max Morley in 2015, but the pair split up just six weeks after leaving the villa.
