The scrutiny that comes with the job has weighed heavily on Brad Fittler at times, but the NSW coach feels there is unfinished business in State of Origin.

Brad Fittler has spoken for the first time about his desire to coach NSW again, revealing he is formally reapplying for the position with the blessing of his family.

After losing the past two series to coaching counterpart Billy Slater, some of the criticism has hurt Fittler and his family. However, the 51-year-old believes the positives in continuing far outweigh the negatives. “I presented to the board and told them I would come back to them in a couple of weeks and go from there,” he said. “I’ll go back to them with a plan. We had opportunities [during the series], whether we let them go, we exceeded [expectations] at some stages.“There have been challenges along the way, it is what it is. Now it’s just about the decision going forward. You can’t change the past.

“It’s nice that people put faith in me and now it’s about repaying it,” Fittler said. “Hopefully you win more than you lose.”“At the conclusion of that meeting he indicated he was to be considered to continue coaching next year,” Conlon said.
