LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville defensive end Mason Reiger plans to enter his name into the transfer portal, he announced Sunday. It is unlikely that he will play in Louisville’s upcoming bowl.
"I came to the University of Louisville as a true freshman walk-on with a dream of playing football and having success at the highest level," Reiger said in a post on Twitter/X. "The last few years I have done that, and I would like to thank every teammate, coach, and staff member that has helped me along the way. In my time here, I have grown a tremendous amount as a player and a person. Thank you to the fans and the city of Louisville for the endless support.
Reiger is the second Louisville player to announce his intentions to enter the portal following the end of the regular season, and the fourth overall. Safety Devin Neal, corner Aaron Williams and offensive lineman Madden Sanker have also announced that they will enter the portal. Monday, Dec. 9 will mark the first day of college football’s 30-day winter transfer portal window. Players will then have until Saturday, Dec. 28 to enter the portal under current NCAA guidelines.
