A shooting on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, which occurred during college football playoffs, has shaken the community and prompted reactions from Louisiana State University students. The attack, which postponed the Sugar Bowl, has left many fearing for future events like the upcoming Super Bowl. Experts say the goal of such attacks is to strike fear into the public and that authorities must analyze warning signs to prevent future tragedies.
Former Portland State University sociology professor Randall Blazak said the goal of attacks like these is to make people afraid to congregate in public.
