A Louisiana judge has blocked the release of a video showing police officers killing of Trayford Pellerin
from public release after Judge Michelle Breaux granted a temporary restraining order brought by the Police Association of Lafayette.shot from a distance showed Pellerin approaching a convenience store, followed by several police officers, who then fired 11 rounds at Pellerin.found Pellerin had been shot 10 times, and showed no evidence that police tased him before firing.
Police said Pellerin was carrying a knife when entering the convenience store, but civil rights attorney Ben Crump, who is among the lawyers representing Pellerin’s family, said Pellerin may have been suffering a mental health crisis when the shooting occurred., Ronald Haley, another attorney representing the family, condemned the judge’s decision, saying that police are operating “under a cloak of cowardice” and that “it leaves us no choice but to wonder what they are hiding.
