Louisiana Gov. Jeff Laundry on Tuesday called for colleges to instate a new policy requiring student athletes be present for the national anthem.

He continued, saying “it is time that all college boards, including Regent, put a policy in place that student athletes be present for the national anthem or risk their athletic scholarship!"by the NCAA once given to an athlete. Only extenuating circumstances, such as a debilitating injury or leaving a team, can result in losing an athletic scholarship.
