Concerns have been raised for Twitter’s new verification subscription service as there are “lots of scammers” who can pay and imitate famous celebrities and companies, says Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.
“When you saw them all stripped away from all high profile people it was quite hard to know if they were the real one unless you buried yourself into their feed,” said Mr Morgan.
“It’s the immediate identification of people who are who you think they are, and there’s lots of scammers out there.”
