Leeds United see the transfer window officially open today as we continue our assessment of the state of play with each of Daniel Farke's squad departments
As the transfer window officially opens for business across English football, Leeds United are preparing for a second stab at promotion. Daniel Farke will need to make big decisions throughout his squad between now and 11pm on August 30. Pascal Struijk will feel like the archetypal new signing when the first pictures from pre-season start to filter through.
Farke’s faith in the 27-year-old grew as the season wore on and his impact in attack was unquestionable, even if his defensive blunders sometimes had us covering our eyes. Firpo would certainly play his part if he remained beyond August 30, but he would need to sign a new contract if United want to retain any chance of receiving a transfer fee for him in the future.
An understanding was eventually reached before the January window closed and the centre-back returned to matchday squads, but he ended the campaign with a measly 137 league minutes. With three years left on Cresswell’s deal, Leeds still hold the cards. Cody Drameh has been offered a new contract, but Elland Road sources do not expect him to accept it. Diego Llorente, Rasmus Kristensen and Max Wober have all seen their loan spells end, but none are understood to have active loan clauses this summer.
