A cat named Smokey, lost for over eight years, is reunited with his family after his microchip is scanned at a Long Island animal shelter.
After over eight years apart, a beloved family cat named Smokey has been reunited with his owners, the Schultzes. Smokey disappeared in 2016 while staying at a relative's house just as the family moved abroad. The loss was devastating for Danielle Schultz, who cherished a photo of Smokey with her young son Donovan. When she could no longer care for him, her son brought Smokey to the Town of Babylon Animal Shelter in Amityville. Years later, when the woman's son brought Smokey to the shelter, the staff scanned his microchip and traced him back to his original owners.
