Josh Allen was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week after scoring the game-winning touchdown against Tennessee.
Allen has come on strong toward the tail-end of the Jaguars’ season as Jacksonville made its playoff push — winning six of their last seven games to secure the AFC South Title.
“I think back in training camp we kind of had this type of swag, this type of aura that we were going to make it far,” Allen said Saturday after the game. “We knew those five games, that five-game stretch that we had, we had to find a way to win. I think we weren't finding those ways to win at that moment. I think we were learning lessons.”After Saturday’s win, Allen talked about the opportunities that come with losing.
The Jaguars hit a five-game losing skid through the month of October. They were 3-7 coming out of the bye week and seemed destined for another losing season. But the resiliency of the team shined through as they put together a 6-1 record in the last seven weeks of the year — including five in a row to end the season — to make the playoffs.
“Man, we really love each other,” he said Saturday. “We really are one person out there. We flow together. We fly together. We hit together. We do everything together, man. And you can just feel the love that we got out there, the passion, the commitment that we have to each other.”
