The Pacific Palisades Fire has scorched over 5,000 acres, destroyed homes and businesses, and claimed at least five lives. Residents share their devastating experiences and fears.
The Los Angeles wildfires are causing widespread devastation to communities and affecting individuals with connections to the affected areas. Stuart Geller, a resident of the Pacific Palisades neighborhood in Los Angeles for several decades, was evacuated and is currently staying with a friend in Santa Monica. He shared videos depicting massive smoke clouds billowing into the sky. Geller stated, 'I've lived here 45 years, never seen anything like this.
Going down the hill was a warzone,' adding, 'My son has lost his house, my nephew has lost his house, my ex-wife has lost her house and I believe my brother lost his house.' On Wednesday morning, Geller received news that his house was still standing, and he is hoping the flames won't reach his property. Reports from California indicated that the Palisades Fire has scorched over 5,000 acres. Firefighters are also confronting two other significant fires in Los Angeles County. The blazes have caused destruction to landmarks, businesses, and homes, tragically claiming the lives of at least five people by Wednesday evening. 'My town is 70-80% gone, and we've lost our supermarkets and the post office and couple of the schools. I know they've lost palisades elementary school,' said Geller. 'The winds are still so strong, it's impossible to fight this fire.' FOX 29 connected with Geller through Mike Jerrick, a former resident of the Pacific Palisades who lived there for 12 years and raised his daughters, Jessica and Jill, there during their formative years. Jerrick shared, 'When we were out there, I took my granddaughter Teddie to show the school and the church where my daughter, her mother, went to school and to church,' expressing his shock and devastation at the situation. He has been closely monitoring the situation through KTTV, the station's Los Angeles affiliate
