Los Angeles County supervisors have approved a $25 million settlement in the case of a 28-year-old man who was paralyzed after being shot by a sheriff's deputy during a scuffle at his home. The man, Isaias Cervantes, was experiencing a mental health crisis at the time of the shooting. His family hopes that the settlement will bring more support for families caring for loved ones with autism and improve his brother's life.

Isaias Cervantes ' mother, Rosa Padilla and sister Yajaira Cervantes spoke at a press conference outside the Board of Supervisors' meeting Tuesday. Los Angeles County supervisors signed off on a $25-million settlement Tuesday in the case of a 28-year-old man who was paralyzed after he was shot by a sheriff’s deputy during a scuffle at the man’s home three years ago.
