Two new funds totaling thousands of dollars have been launched to provide direct financial relief to small businesses and workers impacted by the recent Los Angeles County wildfires.

Two new funds opened Thursday to provide direct financial relief to small businesses and workers impacted by the devastating Los Angeles County wildfires that began on January 7th. The initiative, a partnership between Los Angeles County , the City of Los Angeles Economic and Workforce Development Department, and the Department of Economic Opportunity, aims to support the recovery efforts of affected communities.

The Small Business Relief fund can offer grants ranging from $2,000 to $25,000 to eligible businesses and non-profits that have suffered revenue loss, structural damage, or inventory loss due to the fires. To qualify, businesses must have an annual revenue of $6 million or less and employ fewer than 100 people. Priority will be given to brick-and-mortar businesses that experienced complete destruction, followed by those with partial damage, and those that have suffered losses in equipment, inventory, and revenue. The Worker Relief fund can provide up to $2,000 in direct aid to workers who lost their jobs or experienced a reduction in their salary as a result of the fires. Applicants must have been employed or self-employed in Los Angeles County at the time the fires began. Priority will be given to workers who were fully laid off, followed by those who experienced temporary job loss or reduced working hours. 'Our communities have faced immense hardship from the Los Angeles County wildfires, so these grants are a crucial step toward recovery,' said Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Kathryn Barger. 'By providing direct financial relief to small business owners and workers, we are helping rebuild livelihoods and giving a much-needed boost to our local economy. I encourage everyone who is eligible to apply and take advantage of this critical support.
