“There’s too much pain, there’s too much deep injury to the soul, to the spirit of this city,” O’Farrell said. At another point in the hourlong recording, Martinez called Indigenous immigrants from the Mexican state of Oaxaca ugly, and made crass remarks about Jews and Armenians.
