The main route between Glasgow and Ayrshire to the ferry port to Belfast at Cairnryan, has now reopened following the blaze on Tuesday night.
A major road in Ayrshire was closed overnight after a lorry burst into flames on Tuesday evening. Emergency services raced to the scene on the A77 at Glenapp Church near Girvan after the alarm was raised at around 8pm.
A plume of black smoke could be seen billowing up into the sky with a passing onlooker seen standing at their car nearby. No one was seriously injured as a result of the blaze. "There were no reports of any injuries. Arrangements are being made to uplift the lorry and its contents . The road remains closed and a diversion is in place."
