Rosie, the daughter of British TV presenter Lorraine Kelly, appeared on her mother's show to discuss her struggles with postpartum anxiety following the birth of her daughter Billie six weeks ago.
Lorraine Kelly’s daughter Rosie has bravely opened up on TV about her struggles with postpartum anxiety following the birth of her daughter Billie six weeks ago. The new mum appeared on Lorraine’s show on Tuesday 15 October to talk about her experiences and introduce her gorgeous baby daughter on air, alongside Dr Hilary Jones, who was there to offer medical advice on how to cope with anxiety after birth.
Rosie said Billie was a “dream baby” but she had struggled after Billie’s birth. She said: "I think postpartum depression gets spoken about a lot but I didn’t really know about postpartum anxiety. I think a lot of people say your hormones are mental and you have all these feelings. I was very prepared to feel like, 'I'm not good enough, I'm doing well enough,' but I wasn't prepared for not feeling safe and I thought, 'That's not normal.
He added: "That's normal and it will all disappear." Rosie replied: “I was more worried about him ... I feel a lot better now. I feel like after the six weeks hit, the fog has kind of gone off and I can enjoy it a bit more.” She also revealed that she found breastfeeding “very hard” work. “I didn’t realise how much hard work it was breastfeeding, because I didn’t know if I was going to be able to do it, so I didn’t put any pressure on myself to do it but I wanted to try it… Sometimes my supply is really bad but sometimes it’s really good and I panic but it’s fine.”
Rosie appeared on the Lorraine show with her new baby 30 years after her mum had sat on the sofa with baby Rosie in her arms. Presenter Ross King also joined the interview on a video call from Los Angeles to congratulate Rosie, who he has known since she was a baby.
