Lorde performs at"Good Morning America's" Summer Concert Series at Central Park on Aug. 20, 2021, in New York City.'s Summer Concert Series on Friday , and her set was the series' first in-person show in New York City's Central Park in nearly two years.
Ahead of the set, the New Zealand singer sat down with the morning show to discuss her newly released album,her first release in about four years."They just sort of take me a minute -- I have to really think about where I'm at and where I'm headed," she said of her lengthy process of creating music."I'm in the studio for about two years, and then when they're done I pop my head back out.
As for her new sound, she explained that she had some"transformative experiences" while being outside:"I'd come off a big period of working, being really busy. And being outside, being under the sun was really inspirational to me, so I started trying to channel it into the music."
