New leaders have been named for workforce development, solid waste management and job and family services.
ELYRIA, Ohio -- The Lorain County Board of Commissioners has announced three new appointments to key leadership positions within county government. David Blevins has been named the new director of the Workforce Development Agency, Christopher Cabot will take over as director of Job and Family Services and Thomas Patrick has been promoted to director of the Solid Waste Management District, according to a news release.
Blevins earned a Bachelor of Science in political science and city and regional planning from The Ohio State University. In his previous position as director of the Solid Waste Management District, Blevins authored a 10-year plan that was accepted by the Ohio EPA with 100% ratification, a first for the district and only the second time in the state’s history, according to the release. Cabot, who holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Baldwin Wallace University and a master’s degree in public administration from Cleveland State University, brings 30 years of licensed social worker experience from his previous role as senior leader with the Cuyahoga County Division of Children and Family Services. He also volunteers in the community by coaching and officiating youth sports and mentoring special needs children. Patrick holds an Associates of Arts from Lorain County Community College, a Bachelor of Arts in history and philosophy from Berea College and a master’s degree in public administration from Eastern Kentucky University. He has held multiple roles within the county, including project coordinator and supervisor at the Lorain County Port Authority and collection center coordinator and grant writing specialist for Lorain County Solid Waste Management District.
