Before the New York Jets and general manager Joe Douglas get involved with NFL free agency next month, they first must decide how to proceed with their own unrestricted free agents

Also, the Jets could have their eye on college tackles in the draft. As usual, former Richmond offensive lineman Douglas was seen scrutinizing those drills very carefully at the recent Senior Bowl. Cole is an interesting case. Yes, his 28 receptions were the second-fewest in his career. But he was targeted merely 51 times and was charged with only one drop. Cole can play both outside and in the slot, which gives him extra value in the passing game.

Crowder also has been plagued by soft-tissue injuries. The Jets almost moved on from him last season. They might do it this year.Berrios is a very interesting case. He is multidimensional, having caught 46 passes as a slot receiver and averaged 13.4 yards per punt return and an NFL-leading 30.4 yards on kickoff returns. He was named first team All-Pro as a kick returner by the Associated Press.

He does have limitations, however. Despite his speed on kickoff returns, he is not a deep threat in the passing game. So, what exactly is that worth on the open market? Berrios will try to find out, but given his rapport with quarterback Zach Wilson on and off the field, it would be in the Jets’ best interest to keep him in green and white. Duvernay-Tardif's contract will void in March, with Kansas City getting charged $2 million in dead money, according to Over The Cap.

Duvernay-Tardif, 31, auditioned for the starting job after the deadline trade from the Chiefs, starting the final seven games of the 2021 season. He was an upgrade from former starter Greg Van Roten, but it remains to be seen if Douglas would like someone younger at the position. Douglas rolled the dice and hoped the injury-prone Kroft could stay healthy for a change. Instead, it was the same story that has defined Kroft’s career. He was productive when healthy, but that was not often.
