There is a mystery price tag on the building which has been used as a fire station for almost a 100 years
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service is selling off the fire station, in Longmoor Lane, in the Fazakerley/Aintree area. The detached, two- storey building, with a basement, was purposely built in 1926 as a fire station for the area.
"Aintree Fire Station will continue to serve the community until spring 2024 when our new state-of-the art Training Academy and multi-pump ‘superstation’ on Long Lane, Aintree opens. The new facility will provide a four-bay fire station fit for the future, with 24-hour emergency response to the surrounding area and an improvement in response times along with youth engagement facilities and meeting rooms for community use.
The service said the development will improve operational response times and enable the region’s fire and rescue service to plan effectively against foreseeable risk and emerging threats. Overall response times across north Liverpool are expected to improve on average by 34 seconds and it is thought the build, being led by Wates Construction, will be completed by mid-2024.
