Utah Opera will stage the same production of Puccini's classic, May 3-11, 2025.is launching his stadium-sized “Big A-- World Tour” in his adopted home state of Utah, with a concert Tuesday at, 451 S. 1400 East, Salt Lake City. He’s expected to play songs from his country album, “F-1 Trillion.” Also on the bill are. Show starts at 7:30 p.m. The show is nearly sold out, but some tickets are available aton Friday, at Pioneer Memorial Theatre, 300 S. 1400 East, Salt Lake City. PTC is the first Utah company to present the Tony-nominated 2016 musical, based on director Adrienne Shelly’s 2007 movie that follows Jenna, a pie baker and waitress in a Southern diner stuck in a bad marriage — but given a chance for a better life through the cash prize from a pie-baking contest. Music and lyrics by pop star Sara Bareilles, with the book written by Jessie Nelson. PTC’s production runs through May 17. The production’s creative team consists entirely of artists who are Japanese or Japanese American, and tells the story of the geisha Cio-Cio-San and the American naval officer Pinkerton through “the fantastical realm of virtual reality,” according to Utah Opera’s program notes.
