Charles Martinet, original and longtime voice actor of Mario, is retiring from the iconic role he’s held since the '90s.

Nintendo broke the news today, saying Martinet will be making a transition from voicing those roles to becoming a “Mario Ambassador.”

“Charles Martinet has been the original voice of Mario in Nintendo games for a long time, as far back as ‘posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, today. “Charles is now moving into the brand-new role of Mario Ambassador.

“It has been an honor working with Charles to help bring Mario to life for so many years and we want to thank and celebrate him. Please keep an eye out for a special video message from Shigeru Miyamoto and Charles himself, which we will post at a future date.”, “My new adventure begins! You are all Numba One in my heart! #woohoo !!!!!!!”

Martinet did not provide Mario’s voice in this year’s “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” as actor Chis Pratt took over the role. But Martinet did play Mario’s father, Giuseppe, as a fun Easter egg for fans. AsRead More:
