Three long-time elected officials in Henry County, Alabama, are retiring after dedicating many years to serving the community. Probate Judge David Money, District Court Judge Derek Peterson, and Circuit Clerk Shirleene Vickers are stepping down, leaving behind a legacy of public service and a commitment to helping others.

One of those officials, Probate Judge David Money, is trading in his black robe for whatever his heart desires after over a decade of service.

“I told the next probate judge that two things I was going to do was not leave him with a bunch of debt, which we are not, and to leave him with the best staff that I think we have ever had on the commission side and probate side. A lot of great things have happened and there are still things I wish we could have done,” Money said.

Circuit Clerk Shirleene Vickers joins Money and Peterson in retirement after 18 years as a circuit clerk and 40 years working in the clerk’s office.
