Drivers say they plan to be careful and take precautions, such as driving extra slow and avoiding un-plowed roads.

While many are planning to stay off the roads this weekend, some local rideshare and food delivery drivers still plan to help get people to where they need to go. Drivers say they plan to be careful and take precautions, such as driving extra slow and avoiding un-plowed roads.

One driver for Uber says he's planning to be out driving Sunday and Monday. He says it's not his first snowstorm driving so he's prepared. He has advice for anyone planning to call a rideshare over the next few days. "Order it a little earlier than you might normally order it and have a little patience and allow us the opportunity to arrive and pick you up safely," says Plainview resident and Uber driver Stuart Haimes. News 12 reached out to many different rideshare and food delivery companies.“Our teams are actively monitoring conditions as heavy winter storms are expected to have a dramatic impact on the central and eastern U.S.," says a spokesperson for DoorDash. "We always want to strike the best possible balance in a given market for customers, merchants, and Dashers – all while helping Dashers stay safe on the road. If the weather becomes too extreme, DoorDash may adjust or suspend operations through our Severe Weather Protocol. We encourage everyone in the affected areas to follow guidance from local authorities, take the right precautions, and prioritize their safety.”
