The woman was in a ride-sharing vehicle with two other people when Virgilio Rodriguez's vehicle crashed into them in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn.A Long Island man was sentenced to up to 15 years in prison for a 2021 wrong-way Brooklyn crash while high on PCP and marijuana that left a woman a quadriplegic, the local district attorney announced Thursday.
“This defendant’s reckless decision to drive while under the influence of drugs forever altered the life of a young woman, leaving her with catastrophic injuries and a lifetime of challenges," Gonzalez said. Virgilio Rodriguez, 51 and of Rockville Center, was sentenced to 7 ½ to 15 years in prison after being convicted last month of aggravated vehicular assault, second-degree assault and driving while ability impaired by drugs, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.The sentence is in connection to a Nov. 6, 2021 East Williamsburg crash. On that day, at around 12:49 a.m.
