The other 20 draft picks who played at Alabama high schools and colleges have signed NFL contracts worth a cumulative $126.397 million.
The Cincinnati Bengals signed defensive end Shemar Stewart on Saturday, leaving only one of the 257 players picked in the 2025 NFL Draft unsigned – former Pike Road High School standout Quinshon Judkins .
in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on one charge of first-degree misdemeanor domestic battery in an incident alleged to have occurred on July 7. Judkins left jail after posting a $2,500 bond on July 13.on Thursday when asked if Cleveland would wait for more clarity on Judkins’ legal situation before signing the running back. “So in terms of those decisions – signing, being at camp and everything like that -- it’s, honestly, probably too early to make any type of determination, so as we gather information, we’ll have a better view on that. … “I have learned in many of these off-field situations not to go too far into the future. We’ll deal with the day-to-day. Like, you end up using a lot of sort of mental energy in terms of hypotheticals and things of that nature, and rather we’ll focus on getting the information and then making the right decisions.” The other 20 draft picks who had played for Alabama high schools and colleges have signed their first contracts. Each player picked in the NFL Draft receives a four-year contract, and the range in the total value of those deals for the Alabama-roots players in the 2024 draft stretches from around $22.554 million to about $4.302 million. The approximate value of the 20 contracts is $126.397 million. The values of the contracts are based on the NFL’s salary cap of $279.2 million for the 2025 season and this year’s rookie compensation pool in a formula spelled out in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the league and its players association. While the values of rookie contracts aren’t negotiable, other factors are, including the amount of guaranteed money. It wasn’t always that way. Before 2011, all factors were in play for negotiation, and LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell from Williamson High School in Mobile signed the biggest contract for a rookie from an Alabama high school or college as the No. 1 pick of the 2007 draft at $61 million for six years with the Oakland Raiders.
