NHS running short of critical care beds after fifteenfold ‘explosion’ in patients
Hospitals in south London are struggling to cope with a fifteenfold “explosion” in the number of patients left seriously ill with Covid-19, which has led to operating theatres being turned into makeshift intensive care units, the Guardian has learned.
