The Londis store in Kirkintilloch has been given permission to send deliveries of groceries and alcohol to customers.
, and that Challenge 25 procedures be fully observed including by any third parties making deliveries. The applicant confirmed that all deliveries would be handled in-house and that staff were within their rights to speak to customers and cancel any order.
It was also confirmed that deliveries would only be made to residences, probably within a three mile radius, and that very few orders would be for alcohol only as most people felt there was a stigma associated with this. The applicant further elaborated on their intention not to involve third party delivery companies as they wanted to maintain control and avoid paying expensive rates.
Although not part of the licensing application it was also agreed that the store would implement a policy ensuring orders would be delivered in branded carrier bags. The application was granted although convener Stewart MacDonald asked that the company encourage the developers of the Snappy Shopper app to exclude alcohol-only orders.
