S. military bases and allies from incoming missile threats. The group says it will ramp up its missile production form 96 to 400 interceptors per year over the next seven years as part of another ongoing deal with The Pentagon to increase production of PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement interceptors. The defense systems, which can intercept missiles inside and outside of the atmosphere have played a key role in recent military conflicts. They also fill a critical defense gap by engaging targets out of range of the Patriot Defense System but too low for Ground-Based Midcourse Defense .more than 150 THAAD interceptors at Iranian missiles and drones during the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran last June, depleting nearly a quarter of its stockpile.Each interceptor costs roughly $12.7 million to make, according to Pentagon budget documents.
