WARSAW - Poland has agreed with the United States where additional U.S. troops will be deployed on its soil, Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said on Friday, a day after President Donald Trump canceled a trip to Warsaw as a hurricane headed toward Florida.
Military declarations were expected during Trump’s visit, but Blaszczak said some agreements had already been made, without going into details. In June, Poland signed a deal to increase the American military presence on its soil to counter Russia’s growing assertiveness since its 2014 annexation of Crimea from Ukraine.
