Its been almost two months since Helene made landfall in North Carolina, and Jamee Booth and Jason Pugh of Mobile haven’t forgotten the people who lost their jobs, homes and possessions to the catastrophe. “I feel like they’ve been forgotten,” she said. “If we could just take Christmas off of their plate and not have them worry about that because they’re having to use all their resources that they have to make repairs for their home, to make it habitable.”
She explained how these lists include practical items such as clothing, but they also include wishes for things like action figures, board games and dolls.“He made the football team but he doesn’t have cleats anymore,” she said. “That was one that really touched me. I was like, we got to get that baby his cleats.”
