This year, Brent Amos of Las Positas Winery clinched his third consecutive Best White award at the San Francisco Chronicle Competition, the largest wine competition in North America. His winning wine was the 2023 Las Positas Estate Reserve albarino. The competition, celebrating its 25th anniversary, saw 40 top judges from across the country, including winemakers, buyers, educators, and journalists, evaluate a total of 5,500 wines.
The Best Red award was a tie between the 2023 Lodi Rippey Family Vineyard Grenache and the 2022 Val de Vino Barbera from Calaveras County. A Chandon Blanc de Noirs took the Best Sparkling, while Eberle Winery in Paso Robles won Best Rosé with their 2024 Rosé of Grenache
