A recently elected local state representative is now thinking about stepping down from that post to run for a seat on Jacksonville’s city council.

Democrat Rep. Angie Nixon told News4JAX she still has not made a decision but is leaning in that direction.

“I think you’re getting a lot more leverage here in city council, you know, it’s really, really, really partisan in Tallahassee. You know, it’s very evident that we are, my party is in the super minority. But I believe here, on a local level, it’s not as partisan. And so as a city council member, you have more leverage, and you have more opportunity to be in the faces, and in the streets with the community year-round,” Nixon said.
